Regular price $188.00

The hamsa, or hamsa hand, is a talisman from the ancient Middle East. Earliest traces found in Mesopotamia  or modern day Iraq. In its most common form, the amulet is shaped like a hand with three extended fingers in the middle and a curved thumb or pinky finger on either side. It is also a luky tailsman thought to protect against the negative energies.

Historically and traditionally, it was most commonly carved in jet or formed from silver, a metal believed to represent purity and hold magical properties. It is also painted on the walls of houses for protection, or painted or hung on the doorways of rooms, such as those of an expectant mother or new baby.

The hamsa is one of the national symbols of Algeria and appears in its Emblem
