14K Yellow Gold Mister Monkey Necklace Charm - Cailin's

Apes are not monkeys. Groups of monkeys are known as a ‘tribe’, ‘troop’ or ‘mission’. Monkeys can be divided into two groups, Old World monkeys that live in Africa and Asia, and New World monkeys that live in South America. A baboon is an example of an Old World monkey, while a marmoset is an example of a New World monkey.

The Pygmy Marmoset is the smallest type of monkey, with adults weighing between 120 and 140 grams or 4 to 5 ounces. The Mandrill is the largest type of monkey, with adult males weighing up to 35 kg or 77 lbs. Capuchin monkeys are believed to be one of the smartest New World monkey species. They have the ability to use tools, learn new skills and show various signs of self-awareness. The monkeys with the longest noses are called proboscis.

They are only found on the south of the continent of Australia and the island of Borneo.

Monkeys work in groups when they’re on the hunt for some yummy food. There’s always a leader who gathers the food, while the other monkeys stand guard.

They speak their own language and alert each other to danger. But sometimes a leader will be a bit of a liar. If he’s found some food he likes, he’ll warn the others that there’s danger and keep it all for him. That’s not so cool.
